Die ZERO foundation Die ZERO foundation ist eine gemeinnützige Stiftung privaten Rechts. Sie wurde im Dezember 2008 von den Künstlern Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Günther Uecker und der Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast gegründet und wird vom Kulturdezernat der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf unterstützt. Ausgehend von Düsseldorf entwickelte sich ZERO gegen Ende der 1950er Jahre zu einer internationalen Kunstbewegung, die bis in die späten 1960er Jahre wirkte. Ziel der ZERO foundation ist es, die Geschichte von ZERO zu dokumentieren, zu erforschen und der Öffentlichkeit in ihrer Aktualität zu vermitteln. Den Grundstock der Sammlung und des Archivs der ZERO foundation bilden die Schenkungen der Gründungsmitglieder Heinz Mack, Otto Piene und Günther Uecker in Form von Kunstwerken und Dokumenten. Die Bestände des Archivs umfassen vorwiegend Korrespondenzen, Ausstellungskataloge, Einladungskarten, Fotografien und Zeitungsausschnitte aus den 1950er und 1960er Jahren. Als international vernetztes Zentrum wissenschaftlicher Forschung arbeitet die ZERO foundation im Rahmen von Ausstellungs- und Forschungsprojekten mit Archiven, Stiftungen und Museen im In- und Ausland eng zusammen. U.a. hat die ZERO foundation Projekte mit den folgenden Institutionen durchgeführt: Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art (Kobe), Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York) und Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Die ZERO foundation hat eine eigene Publikationsreihe gegründet, in der die Ergebnisse von Forschungsarbeiten über verschiedene Aspekte von ZERO veröffentlicht werden. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The ZERO foundation The ZERO foundation is a non-profit foundation under private law. It was established in December 2008 by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Günther Uecker, and the Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast, and is supported by the Head of Cultural Affairs of the State Capital Düsseldorf. Starting from Düsseldorf, ZERO developed into an international art movement at the end of the 1950s and lasted until the late 1960s. The ZERO foundation researches, preserves and presents artworks and documents about the history of ZERO. � The donation of the founding members, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and Günther Uecker, in the form of artworks and records, form the backbone of the collection and archives of the ZERO foundation. The archives comprise mainly photographs, correspondence, exhibition catalogues, invitation cards, and newspaper clippings from the 1950s and 1960s. As a centre of scholarly investigation, the ZERO foundation actively cooperates with archives, foundations and museums in Germany and abroad in the context of research and exhibition projects. The ZERO foundation has conducted projects with, amongst others, the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art (Kobe), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York) and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
