Studio Hadid Vienna
Studio Kazuyo Sejima Vienna, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 1, Institute of Architecture, University of Applied Arts Vienna Since winter semester 2015 Kazuyo Sejima is heading one of the three architecture studios at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Sejima was selected as the first female director of the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010. In the same year she was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the highest accolade for architects, together with Ryue Nishizawa with their office SANAA. Following Sejima’s conception of architecture, the studio is focusing on the study of the relationship between architecture and its context, as well as the relationship between space and body. Students are expected to understand the meaning of sustainability, both in culture and society. Sejima encourages her students to reconsider and explore the true role of architects today, in order to create the future of architecture and contribute to the contemporary city’s constant evolvement.
